Into every life a little rain must fall…

Daniel | May 6, 2008

Today’s post was going to be a fantastic journey through the ever changing flux and flow we find within the eternal and unchanging present moment.  I know that sounds flippant, but I can’t think about it too hard or my brain seems to want to turn itself inside out.

That cute little baby?  Her name is Grace, and she’s my niece.  She really knows how to stay in the now.  She’s my little Zen Baby for sure!

Time is the ever changing flux and flow.  It’s the only way we have to measure things inside “now”.  Think of “now” as a great big bubble, and inside that bubble is where everything happens.  The Buddha achieving nirvana under the Bodhi Tree?  It’s happening right now.  Jesus is on the cross right now.  You are being born right now.  I am exhaling my final breath of this life right now.  It all happens in the same unchanging present moment.

Wow.

Time is a measuring device invented by people to measure the ever changing flux and flow inside of now.  You can talk about the past and the future, but you can’t physically go to either one - you’re body is stuck in the now.  You have a time machine, your mind, and it can take you to the future and the past, but you have no ability to change anything while you’re there, and you give up the ability to change things in the now while you’re mind is in the past or future.  So stick as close to the now as you can!

There will be other posts about time and the now.  This post, however, is really just to apologize that I haven’t been here as much as I might have liked, because I was needed in the now elsewhere.  My sister, brother-in-law and little Grace left Sunday, to move to Atlanta.  Between moving myself the last weekend in April and my sister’s family moving the first weekend in May, I’ve been a bit distracted.  Please bear with me - I’ve got a long list of things I can’t wait to talk about with you!

@ Thisblog(etc) Thanks for dropping by - don’t give up, keep reading! As one of the masters once said: “If you understand, then things are exactly as they are. If you do not understand, then things are exactly as they are.” You may not be at a place where some of this (or, apparently, most of this) will make any sense at all to you. That’s OK, as long as you don’t give up. Don’t get me wrong - I hope everyone that drops by finds something that they find interesting, or something that they find useful, or both!
